I realise the title of this article is reminiscent of The Beatles circa 1966, but it seemed an apt way to introduce my long-overdue update. Due to some health issues, followed by a very protracted hiatus courtesy of Covid, my singing career has stalled! And frankly, I am unsure whether the old motor will be cranked into full working order again. Certainly I hope that performing will be an option at some point in the future but, for now, my focus is on my radio show, Todd’s Turntable. My love for the Great American Songbook and the wealth of terrific composers, singers, musicians and arrangers has some outlet and for that I am most grateful. The syndicated show goes out weekly on almost 20 stations around the globe and keeps me and my record collection alive and kicking. Despite music being such an important part of my life, I never dreamt that a career as a singer was possible and it’s provided me with immense satisfaction and happiness along the way. Little did I know when I first took to the stage in 2001 what lay ahead; it wasn’t the most lucrative move I ever made but it has been the most satisfying . So that’s my brief update and I just want to take this opportunity to acknowledge the musicians, fellow singers, agents, promoters, and – last but by no means least – all the audience members and people who share my taste in music for their support and kindness over the last 20 years or so. Thank you all.
